Peak week recovery done right
We are called Run and Chill, and sometimes the chill needs a mat. An evening of outdoor Pilates and fascia release with The Collective Flow, on the lawn by the Alte Pinakothek.

With Collective Flow
The short version
On Thursday 27 August we rolled out yoga mats instead of lacing up. Together with The Collective Flow we hosted an outdoor Pilates and fascia release class on the lawn by the Alte Pinakothek.
No pace groups, no watch, no kilometres. Just an hour of moving slowly on purpose.

Why runners need this
Most of us are very good at running and not very good at everything around it. We skip the stretching, we ignore the tight calves, and then we are surprised when something starts to hurt in week ten of a training plan.
So this class was built around what runners actually need: flowing Pilates sequences for mobility, balance and joint health, and fascia release to loosen the muscles after running, so your legs recover quicker between sessions.

It was open to all levels, slow to medium pace, with some music in the background. You could tell who had done Pilates before and who had not, and nobody cared :)
The best part
The last few minutes, lying on the grass and doing nothing at all. For a group of people who normally measure everything, that was probably the hardest exercise of the evening.

Thank you
To The Collective Flow for teaching us how to look after our legs, and to everyone who brought a mat and an open mind.
Run with us, and stretch with us
We run every week: an easy social run on Sunday with brunch at Convivio afterwards, and intervals on Wednesday evening. You do not need to be fast and you do not need to know anyone. Have a look at the schedule and just come along.
Reading about running is good. Running with people is better.
